Transformer maintenance is to ensure the normal and safe operation of the transformer after inspection and repair. Power safety and stability require that transformers, whether in operation or out of service, be maintained once a year. Transformers that are about to be put into operation should be checked and maintained beforehand.
The maintenance of transformers is to ensure the normal and safe operation of transformers after inspection. Power safety and stability require annual maintenance for transformers that are in operation or out of service. Transformers that are to be put into operation should be checked and maintained before being put into service.
First, regular cleaning of the transformer is necessary. Since transformers need to dissipate heat during operation, excessive dust, leaves, and other impurities on the transformer can not only affect its heat dissipation performance but also lead to reduced insulation properties or even insulation breakdown due to poor heat dissipation, directly causing transformer failures and potentially severely affecting the lifespan of the transformer. Therefore, in practice, the transformer should be cleaned at least once a year, removing impurities from the surface and using a vacuum cleaner to clear out dust from inside.
Secondly, regular maintenance and cleaning of the transformer’s ventilation equipment are also required. The fan of the transformer plays an important role in cooling and dissipating heat. If the fan stops running, the transformer may experience poor heat dissipation, leading to failures or even fire hazards. Therefore, the fan also needs to be cleaned regularly, just like the transformer.
Finally, it is necessary to regularly check whether the transformer’s firmware and connectors are loose and whether there is extensive rust on the transformer. During the operation of the transformer, it is inevitable that fasteners may become loose, so regular checks are needed, and damaged parts should be replaced promptly. Additionally, if the transformer shows extensive rust, it will increase energy consumption and reduce power, so regular inspections should be conducted, and measures should be taken to prevent rust on the core.
